Oleg Matytsin

Position: President, International University Sports Federation (FISU)

After ending his career as a professional table tennis player and coach, Dr Oleg Matytsin worked for many years at the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism – the main Russian sports education institution - where he served as rector (2001-2006) and then president (2006-2015).

A Doctor in Pedagogical Sciences, Oleg Matytsin has authored more than 80 publications on the psychology and pedagogy of sport. He holds honorary doctorates from several universities, including Beijing Sport University, Lithuanian Sports University, Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health (St. Petersburg, Russia), “Vasil Levski” National Sports Academy (Bulgaria).

Prior to his current position, President Matytsin held the positions of FISU 1st Vice-President, Vice-President of the European University Sports Association, President of the Russian Students Sport Union, and member of the Council of the International Fair Play Committee.

President Matytsin has been actively involved in the organisation of numerous international events, including Universiades, World University Championships, educational forums etc.
