Consuelo Sanchez is a seasoned leader in sports tourism, with a decade of experience at Florida’s Sports Coast (FSC)—Pasco County’s Destination Management Organization (DMO). Since joining the County in 2015, her rapid career progression has been a testament to her impact. Starting as a Senior Secretary, her passion, commitment, and leadership quickly propelled her to Tourism Deputy Director, solidifying her role as a strategic force in Pasco County’s tourism success.

Her contributions have earned prestigious recognition, including Pasco County Public Services Branch Star Leader of the Year (2023), Florida Professional of the Year for Sports Tourism (2024), Compete Sports Diversity Person of the Year (U.S.), International Person of the Year (Tampa Bay region), and Event Industry’s 2025 Women to Watch—a prestigious global honor. Most recently, she received a Resolution from the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners for her lasting contributions to the community.

Throughout her tenure, Consuelo has been instrumental in transforming Pasco County into a premier sports tourism destination, leading strategic initiatives for the DMO, and working closely with the Tourist Development Council and Board of County Commissioners to achieve key objectives. She played a pivotal role in developing FSC’s brand identity, raising the region’s profile through strategic vision and collaboration. Her strong presence at regional, national, and international industry events has strengthened relationships with key partners, securing major sports events that have propelled Pasco County’s reputation as a top amateur sports destination.

She has specialized her expertise through certifications in Sports Tourism Strategy, Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Post-Crisis Leadership. In 2023, she became a Certified Autism Travel Professional, further demonstrating her commitment to inclusive and accessible tourism.

Originally from Colombia, Consuelo moved to the U.S. 12 years ago, bringing over 20 years of experience in project management and business development. Her expertise has been pivotal in attracting and securing high-profile national and international events for Pasco County, reinforcing its position as a leader in sports tourism.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Consuelo’s journey is one of resilience, purpose, and determination. Life has tested her in ways few could imagine, yet she has never allowed hardship to dictate her path. Instead, she chooses growth over limitation, joy over bitterness, and strength over surrender.

Her experiences have shaped her into more than a leader—they’ve made her an advocate for perseverance, a source of inspiration for those facing adversity, and a testament to the power of choosing light even in the darkest moments. A woman of faith and a devoted mother to Allison and Juliana, she carries forward the spirit of her late daughter, Natalia, whose memory fuels her drive to uplift others.
