Position: Senior Director, Global Market Development, National Football League (NFL)
Tom leads the NFL’s Global Market Development team, focused on international market growth and international game partnerships. His scope covers leading bid processes for NFL’s international events and driving partnership development in new territories. Tom’s current team is newly formed after the initial success of NFL International Games and the commitment from the League to expand from four to up to eight regular season games internationally each season, starting from 2025.
Tom’s contribution has helped drive the expansion of the NFL’s international footprint. In the process, rewriting the NFL’s approach to deeper level of collaborative partnerships with national and city governments, alongside leading soccer clubs and leagues. Over the past three year’s Tom was able to secure game partnerships in Germany, Brazil & Spain, and support development of key partnerships in UK & Mexico. Notable collaborations include Tottenham Hotspur & Greater London Authority; FC Bayern Munich & City of Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt & City of Frankfurt; Real Madrid and the City & Region of Madrid; and the League’s inaugural game in South America with the City & State of São Paulo, SP Turis and SC Corinthians.
Tom has been with the NFL for nearly a decade, starting as International Financial Controller and advancing through various roles, including International Financial Planning & Analysis, European Strategy & Business Development, and International Football Development Strategy & Growth.
Tom has been at the forefront of helping to create community programs that have significantly impacted underserved communities. Playing a crucial role in establishing three of the NFL’s most powerful life changing platforms; The International Player Pathway program which identifies and prepares non-US Nationals for potential NFL careers. The NFL Academy which provides learning and elite sporting opportunity for high-school students to receive scholarships to further their academic & sporting pathways and the NFL Foundation UK the international charitable arm of the NFL, which aims to tackle inequality and provide opportunities for young people; partnering with city governments & clubs across the UK to support local organisations embedded in their communities. Tom also serves as a trustee for BIGKID Foundation, a multi-award-winning youth and community charity in London dedicated to ending youth violence.
Tom’s prior experience after graduating from Cardiff University, qualified as an accountant with Roffe Swayne; followed by stints with Tomkins plc (former investment company) & Perform Group (now DAZN).
