Position: President, International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS)
Four-time European speed skating Champion Sabatino Aracu was President of the European Roller Skating Confederation from October 1991 to February 2005. In January 1993, he was elected President of the Italian Roller Sports Federation and joined the CONI National Council.
In February 2005, he was elected President of the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS).
He was President of the Promotion Committee of the XVI Mediterranean Games of Pescara 2009 and, subsequently, President of the Organising Committee of the XVI Mediterranean Games Pescara 2009.
Sabatino’s international sport engagement has produced great recognition for roller sports, such as inclusion in demonstration disciplines at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics and among the official sports at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires in 2018, reaching the Olympic Recognition with Skateboarding being included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Since 2015, he has been Chairman of the Commission of the Urban Games of SportAccord and since 2017 he is a member of the CONI National Council. Sabatino is also an Honorary Citizen of the city of Nanjing in China.
