Joe Rafferty

Oman Sail is a national initiative established under the Ministry of Tourism to contribute to the development of Oman and the Omani people through sports.  

With more than 16 years of experience in the sport industry, Joe’s previous functions include sales, sponsorship, brand experiential and event management. His career started in the sportswear industry where he was responsible for the management and activation of the adidas running portfolio in the UK & Ireland, which included the London Marathon & British Athletics.  

He joined IMG in 2012 and was responsible for the development of the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon and the EMEA-wide roll out of The Color Run, generating $2.2m gross profit for IMG in 2014. Prior to joining Oman Sail in November 2018, Joe was Operations Director for IRONMAN UK & Ireland. Joe is responsible for the delivery and commercial development of Oman Sail’s event portfolio including Haute Route Oman, Oman by UTMB, Muscat Marathon & Sailing Arabia The Tour.
