Jakob Larsen
Position: Director of Competitions & Events, World Athletics
Jakob Larsen, 51, is the director of competitions & events at World Athletics, a position he undertook in April 2020.
Prior to joining World Athletics, Larsen was the CEO of the Danish Athletic Federation since 2007. He also served as the Director of the World Half Marathon Championships 2014 and the World Athletics Cross Country Championships 2019. In addition, he was race director of the annual World Athletics Gold label race ‘Copenhagen Half Marathon’ as well as the ‘Royal Run’ and other road running events, he oversaw an event operation with more than 200,000 entries per year.
With ten years’ experience as a TV colour analyst, a background in scientific research and coaching as well as a 3-year stint managing the national High-Performance athletics programme, Jakob Larsen has a broad understanding of international athletics.
He holds an MSc in Sports and Human Physiology.
