Annamarie Phelps (nee Stapleton) represented Great Britain in the women's coxed eight at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, finishing in seventh position. She is a former member of the BOA Athletes' Commission (1994-98) and was world champion in lightweight women's fours in 1993.
She was Chair of British Rowing from 2013 to 2018, and became Vice-Chair of the British Olympic Association in 2017. In 2021, Phelps was appointed to the European Olympic Committee’s Executive Committee (June) and became Chair of European Rowing (November).
She is married to fellow British rower Richard Phelps.
