Sergey Nifontov

Having started dancing at the age of five, Sergey has dedicated his life to DanceSport. His journey has taken him from athlete to coach, adjudicator and event organiser, providing first-hand experience of the needs and expectations of athletes, officials and organisers alike. 

Before being appointed General Secretary, Sergey served as WDSF Sports Officer, following earlier experience as a University Professor. These roles allowed him to combine education, sports administration and international federation management, shaping his practical approach to sport governance and event delivery. 

As General Secretary, Sergey oversees the day-to-day management of WDSF and works closely with member federations, the IOC,  host cities and organising committees to strengthen DanceSport's global development. His work focuses on creating sustainable events that generate long-term value for athletes, local communities and host destinations. 

Sergey believes that sport is a powerful platform for education, inclusion and international cooperation, and advocates for innovative events that inspire participation, promote healthy lifestyles and leave a lasting legacy.
