Martin Bachofner

Having moved into the tourism industry from a different professional background, Martin Bachofner is able to bring his professional experience from the banking and financial services sector (Credit Suisse) as well as the media sector (Marquad Media) with him into his new role. After finishing a business traineeship, he completed his school leaving examinations and went on to study law and economics at university.

From 2011 to 2017, Martin Bachofner was the head of Gstaad Saanenland Tourism, and he has chaired the marketing committee of BE! Tourismus AG since 2012. In 2014, he took over the presidency of the Association of Swiss Tourism Managers (ASTM).

In September 2017, Martin Bachofner began his role as CEO of the newly founded holding company Bern Welcome. In this role, he has overall responsibility for all three business areas at the company: tourism, meetings and events. In addition to reorganising and repositioning Bern Tourism, he is also responsible for expanding the events branch of the business.
