Joanne Deponio

Joanne leads the operational planning and delivery for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships – an exciting new multi-sport event bringing together the existing European Championships for Aquatics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon with a new Golf Team Championships. The event will attract more than 8000 athletes, officials and media to Glasgow and Scotland with a potential television audience of more than one billion.

Joanne has direct responsibility for the sports programme, venues, transport, security, technology, accommodation, safety, workforce, accreditation and the cultural festival.

Joanne has more than 15 years of experience in the strategic planning and operational delivery of major international events and has previously held positions at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 FIG World Gymnastics Championships.
