Andrew Bacchus

Position: Head of Sports Economy Team, Department for International Trade

A career civil servant, Andrew Bacchus has for the last ten years been Head of the Sports Economy Team at UK Trade & Investment, now the Department for International Trade. A regular speaker at conferences and seminars, Andrew is responsible for developing export strategies and promotional activity to assist UK companies to explore the export opportunities arising from sports projects and the organisation and hosting of major sporting events around the world. In the lead up to, and during, the London 2012 Olympics Andrew was part of UKTI’s Olympic Legacy network team which helped deliver a £14 billion economic legacy from the hosting of the Olympics, and led UKTI’s sports focussed activity during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and most recently the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio.
